Cris Bursugiu is an experienced telecommunications professional with more than 30 years in the industry and a Project Manager at Rigarus Construction. With a background in applied electronics and formal training from the Telecommunication Army College in Romania, Cris has built a career grounded in technical expertise, practical problem solving, and a strong commitment to worker safety.

Since 2020, Cris has served as Chair of STAC’s Workplace Health and Safety Committee, where he has played a central role in advancing important safety discussions across the industry. Known for his thoughtful insights and willingness to share real-world experiences, he consistently helps guide meaningful conversations on how to better protect tower crews and improve safety practices.

A long-standing member of the STAC Steering Committee, Cris is also an active contributor to multiple safety initiatives and project teams, including those relating to tower climbing safety, RF awareness, electrical safety, COVID precautions, standardized industry safety forms, and so many more. He has supported the development of key safety resources and is a familiar and respected voice at STAC conferences, where he regularly engages audiences and encourages dialogue.

Cris’s leadership, dedication, and collaborative approach have made a lasting impact on health and safety within Canada’s telecommunications sector, making him a highly deserving recipient of the 2026 Safety Leadership Award.

The STAC Safety Leadership Award is provided to an individual in recognition of an act or activity that has helped improve Canadian tower safety outcomes, either immediately or over an extended period of time.
