Congratulations to Three Deserving STAC Award Winners

It’s with great pleasure that we announced today the winners of this year’s STAC Awards: Jason Wolf from Korol Contracting, Frank Tang from TELUS and Simon Weisman from Guymast Inc.

The STAC Awards are awarded each year to deserving STAC members who have made exceptional contributions to STAC’s work or Canadian tower safety more generally. This year’s nominations reflect awards for the 2021-22 membership year. The winners were nominated by their peers and voted on by members of the STAC Steering Committee.

This year’s STAC Award winners are …

STAC Volunteer of the Year Award

Provided to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to STAC projects or activities through volunteer service during the course of the membership year.

Jason Wolf

Jason Wolf is the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager for Korol Contracting, where he is responsible for overseeing their health and safety program. He has worked in the tower industry for 18 years, starting out with 13 years in the field before moving into HSE.

STAC Safety Leadership Award

Provided to an individual in recognition of an act or activity that has helped improve Canadian tower safety outcomes, either immediately or over an extended period of time.

Frank Tang

Frank Tang is Senior Engineer at TELUS, where he is responsible for overseeing all towers across Canada. He works closely with regional implementation and operations teams, radio frequency engineering teams, tower supply and installation vendors, tower engineers, and inspectors to ensure that best practices are carried out at every stage of the implementation process, including new builds, band adds, colocations, maintenance inspections, deficiencies, and repairs.

STAC Lifetime Achievement Award

Provided to an individual in recognition of an abundance of acts or activities that have helped improve Canadian tower safety outcomes over an extended period of time.

Simon Weisman, P.Eng. , FCSCE, MASCE

Simon Weisman received his Master of Applied Science degree from the University of Toronto in 1973. He then worked for 8 years as a structural engineer in the tower division at Morrison Hershfield Burgess and Huggins Limited before founding Weisman Consultants Inc., specializing in tower inspections, analyses, and design for tower companies, primarily in Canada and the US.
