STAC Lifetime Achievement Award
Jerry Bezner – NWS
Jerry Bezner’s career in the wireless telecommunications industry spans more than 50 years, with a legacy of leadership and dedication to workplace safety that has left a lasting impact on the tower industry.
Jerry began his career as a Sales Engineer with General Electric, selling two-way radio communications to business and government clients. In 1988, he transitioned into the cellular market as Vice President of a distribution company promoting cellular phones in Canada. By 1991, he had joined Ericsson Canada as General Manager of the Land Mobile Radio Division, where he continued to shape the industry’s evolution.
Jerry’s journey into the tower industry began in 1998 when he joined Trylon TSF, marking the start of his deep involvement in workplace safety. Jerry quickly became an active member of NATE and its Trade Show Committee, where he has now served for over 25 years. When STAC was formed, Jerry immediately recognized the opportunity for collaboration and helped facilitate a meeting between STAC and NATE—an initiative that has strengthened both organizations.
Jerry is also a long-time member of the STAC Workplace Health and Safety Committee, through which he played a key role supporting the Canadian tower industry during the outset of the COVID pandemic. During this time, Jerry encouraged STAC to increase the frequency of the committee’s meetings, and helped relay developing COVID safety best practices for tower climbers from across the industry and throughout North America. A member of the Ontario Association of Professional Engineers and a Life Member of IEEE, Jerry continues to demonstrate his commitment to advancing safety and innovation in the industry through participation in a wide variety of relevant associations.
Outside of work, Jerry is a devoted family man with four grown daughters and many grandchildren. When he finds the time, he enjoys a good game of golf and fine wines.
Please join us in celebrating Jerry’s remarkable career and his unwavering dedication to the tower industry.
The STAC Lifetime Achievement Award is provided to an individual in recognition of an abundance of acts or activities that have helped improve Canadian tower safety outcomes over an extended period of time.
