The STAC Industry Workforce Development Committee has been looking at a number of different ways to build up the telecommunications field and attract more workers to the industry.
One of the current projects the committee is working on is getting Telecom Technician designated as an occupation, which will allow for more support at the provincial level in moving forward with other objectives such as funding and partnering with institutions.
Manitoba is the first province the committee is collaborating with to achieve that result. STAC will have to submit a proposal to the Apprenticeship Manitoba Board, and we need industry members in the province to help by providing input that is required to complete this provincial regulatory process.
Industry support is the cornerstone of a successful application, and your input will define the proposal to the board and help shape the workforce of the future. An information session is being planned for interested parties, so if your company has an active working presence in the province of Manitoba, please email us at [email protected].
