STAC Reveals STAC 2020 Keynote Speakers

The STAC Steering Committee is also delighted to announce three keynote speakers who will provide inspiring presentations at STAC 2020.

Keynote Speakers

Aimee Arsenault
Canadian Registered Safety Professional  (CRSP)

Aimee Arsenault is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and the owner of safety consultancy Transmit Safety. She has been working in health and safety for 14 years, and has gained an in-depth understanding of the factors that influence occupational health and safety through her experiences in various sectors of the construction industry, including seven years of experience working with wireless and tower crews.

Exposure to different industries has also provided Aimee with insight into the work environment dynamics and communication practices required to run an organization that truly prioritizes safety. Aimee is also enthusiastic about the activation of organizational values in the workplace and working with people keen on the implementation of health and safety strategies for operational improvement.

Aimee will provide a STAC 2020 keynote presentation on Building a Safety Culture within a Workplace on the morning of Tuesday, March 31.

Aimee will also host a special 6-hour workshop on March 30 – the day before STAC 2020 – that will focus on sustainable leadership in health and safety for organizations. Akshay Sharma
Award-Winning Tech Analyst

Akshay Sharma is an award-winning tech analyst, with awards from Siemens, Gartner and the IEEE. He has authored or co-authored over 280 research notes, on emerging technologies like SD-WAN, 5G, mobile video, Cybersecurity, and IoT, among others, in the past decade. A frequent speaker at tech events, Akshay is often quoted in leading institutions like CNN and the Wall St. Journal. He is a former CTO of one of the first video/WiFi smartphone firms, and is on the advisory board for 5G Lamp-post solutions vendor LB-N, Unified Communications provider Unified Office, and emerging DevOps Cloud provider Kovair. He was a contributor to legacy telecom standards, VoIP, and ARINC 629 Databus used in many aircraft for fly-by-wire. He is originally from Ottawa, where he completed his Computer Engineering studies at Carleton University, and where he worked for Nortel and Bell Canada.

Akshay will provide a STAC 2020 luncheon keynote presentation on Smart City and 5G Infrastructure, on Wednesday, April 1.


Robert Ghiz
President and CEO, Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA)

Robert Ghiz is President and CEO of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) and Chair of the Mobile Giving Foundation Canada. Twice elected Premier of Prince Edward Island, Robert’s many accomplishments at the province’s helm include his successful stewardship of its economy through the 2008 global financial collapse and his contributions to PEI’s record-setting economic growth following the recession. While Premier, Robert also led successful trade missions in Europe, Asia, South America and the United States, and was proud to implement full-day kindergarten for the first time in the province’s history. Robert is proud to be the Canadian wireless industry’s champion in Ottawa, where he works to ensure the industry continues to enhance the personal lives and economic opportunities of Canadians across the country.

Robert will provide the introductory STAC 2020 keynote on the State of the Wireless Industry on Tuesday, March 31.
