American news media reported on September 27 that three workers died following the collapse of a gin pole in Miami Gardens, Fla.
STAC and members of the STAC Steering Committee were saddened to learn of this accident and the related fatalities.
WirelessEstimator reported that three men were completing a 600 MHz repacking project when their gin pole rigging failed. Conflicting reports have suggested the men were working at a height of either 400 feet or approximately 1,000 feet.
As of last check, an investigation into this event was ongoing, and no other information about the cause of the gin pole’s collapse is yet available. STAC will continue to monitor this story and will share any additional information about this incident as details are made available.
