Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Canada announced a developmental license program on Thursday, in a bid to make wireless spectrum use easier for testing purposes.
“Developmental licences are offered to innovators who are testing the next wave of wireless technology and services,” according to information on the developmental licence posted on ISED’s website.
ISED spokesman Hans Parmar said in an email the program was new and launched Thursday. “This unique type of licence is designed to facilitate access to wireless spectrum in order to test and validate solutions” in fields like manufacturing, health care, transportation and public safety, ISED’s website outlines.
