Equipment Recalls – MSA Nuevo Wrap Safety Glasses and Red Head Trubolt+ wedge anchors


This notice is to alert STAC Members to a pair of Health Canada recall notices issued in recent weeks that relate to products some STAC Members may have in their corporate inventory.

The two recalled products are as follows:

MSA Nuevo Wrap Safety Glasses

Distributor: Mine Safety Appliances Company LLC

Product Description: This recall involves MSA Nuevo Wrap Protective Eyewear sold as MSA part number 10106385. These safety glasses are wide, wrap-style with gray lenses, black frame and gray rubber pads for the nose and along the bottom of the arm stems. A MSA logo can be found printed on the right hand arm stem.

Hazard Identified:Testing by the CSA Group has shown that glasses distributed between October 2017 and April 2018 do not comply with the side impact requirements of the safety standard for eye and face protectors. The affected safety glasses may not provide adequate protection against side impact, posing a risk of eye injury.

As of June 13, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries.

Time period sold:The products were sold by safety supply distributors in Canada from October 17, 2017 to April 16, 2018.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact the company for a replacement.

Red Head Trubolt+ wedge anchors

Product Description: This recall involves Red Head Trubolt+ wedge anchors that are used for concrete anchoring. The product includes a threaded stud body, expansion clip, nut, and washer distributed in either a red/black/white cardboard packaging or red/blue plastic packaging. The packaging for the recalled products has a blue and white symbol indicating “Cracked & Uncracked-Seismic Approved”.

Hazard Identified: The affected product does not meet the requirements for use in cracked concrete and seismic applications, which may lead to incidents or injuries to consumers.

As of June 21, 2018, the company has received no report of incident or injury in Canada.

Time period sold: The affected products were sold from March 2017 to April 2018.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and return it to the retailer or point of purchase for a full refund.
